On Wednesday night, multiple Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from a black Scorpio vehicle owned by the BJP Panchayat head of Bahirgachi village, Nadia district. The incident occurred during a routine police patrol in the Dhantala police station area. Police officers stopped the vehicle after noticing suspicious activity. Inside the car were several men and women. Upon questioning, it was revealed that many of them were Bangladeshi nationals who could not provide valid documents for legal entry into India.
The police arrested the individuals on charges of illegal immigration and took them into custody. They were later produced before a local court on Thursday. Authorities confirmed that none of the arrested individuals had the necessary paperwork to justify their presence in India, making their stay illegal. The black Scorpio was identified as the vehicle of the Panchayat head of Bahirgachi village, a BJP leader. The vehicle was reportedly being used by the Panchayat head, though the precise circumstances of its use at the time of the arrest remain unclear.
Further investigations by the police are underway. They are examining the circumstances surrounding how the infiltrators came to be in the vehicle, and whether there was any negligence or deliberate involvement by the Panchayat head. The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and conducting interviews with the arrested individuals to gather more information about their movement and how they managed to cross into India without proper documentation. The local police have stated that they will take appropriate legal action based on the investigation’s findings. As of now, no statement has been issued by the BJP Panchayat head regarding the incident. The Panchayat head’s office has declined to comment on the situation, and the BJP leadership has remained silent on the matter.
