Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
A Purulia Municipal employee has been arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a woman from a neighboring house while heavily intoxicated. The incident took place on the night of November 4th in the Munshidanga area, located in Ward 3 of Purulia town. The accused, a municipal worker, reportedly entered the home of the woman, who was living next door, and attempted to drag her out by force. The woman resisted, and a struggle ensued before the accused was stopped.
The victim’s family immediately contacted the Purulia Sadar Police and filed a formal complaint detailing the incident. According to the complaint, the accused was visibly drunk when he entered the house and made an attempt to forcibly pull the woman outside. The police responded promptly and initiated an investigation into the matter. By the evening of November 5th, the police had arrested the municipal worker, who was later presented in court. The woman’s statement was recorded, and the accused was charged with attempted abduction and other relevant offenses.
Purulia Municipal Chairperson, addressing the situation, confirmed that the incident was reported on November 4th and stated that the municipal worker had been arrested by the police the following evening. He assured that the municipality would cooperate fully with the police in ensuring that proper legal action is taken. He emphasized that the matter would be dealt with in strict accordance with government procedures and that the municipal administration would follow all necessary protocols.
The police investigation is currently ongoing. Authorities are working to gather additional evidence, including witness statements and any available security footage from nearby areas. The accused remains in police custody, and the case has been forwarded to the district court for further legal proceedings. The Purulia Sadar Police have assured that the case will be handled with the utmost seriousness to ensure justice for the victim.
