A 35-year-old man, Pradeep Kumar Sanyasi, was found dead at his sweet shop in Dharmapur Kalitala, Hooghly, on Thursday morning, just days before his wedding. The discovery was made by a local shopkeeper who noticed the body hanging from a four-pillar structure opposite Pradeep’s shop. The police were informed, and the body was recovered and sent to Chuchura Imam Bada Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death, and the investigation is ongoing.
Pradeep had attended the Jagadhatri Thakur procession in Chandannagar with friends on Wednesday night. He left for the event around 11:00 PM with friends Bishwajit Pal and Kartik Mondal. According to reports, Pradeep was in high spirits throughout the night, and the group had a meal together, including chili chicken and tandoori roti. They returned to Dharmapur around 2:30 AM, after which Pradeep took photos with his friends in front of the idol. He then went back to his shop, where he was later found dead.
Pradeep, a resident of Dharmapur, had been planning his wedding to a local woman from Chuchura. The wedding was set for November 17, and all preparations had been completed, including the distribution of wedding invitations. Pradeep’s parents were deceased, and he lived with his two elder brothers, who were actively involved in the wedding arrangements. The suddenness of his death has left his family and friends in shock, as no signs of distress or personal issues were reported in the days leading up to the incident.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Pradeep's death. They have not found a suicide note, and authorities are examining all possible angles.
