Young woman found dead in Kolkata flat after Kali Puja party, partner claims she fell ill

In the Garia area of Kolkata, the body of 25-year-old Madhurima Roy was discovered in her live-in partner Bikash Dutta's flat the day following the Kali Puja festivities. Authorities received a report from Bikash, who found Madhurima unresponsive upon returning home. It has been reported that the couple held a gathering on the night of Kali Puja, attended by friends, where a significant quantity of alcohol was consumed.

Bikash explained that he had left the flat with his mother, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, to visit the hospital. He returned shortly thereafter to find Madhurima in what appeared to be a deep sleep. Bikash's mother, who lives in the adjacent flat, mentioned that they initially did not suspect anything was wrong. It was only after attempts to wake Madhurima failed that they realized the gravity of the situation and contacted authorities for help.

Local residents expressed concerns about the handling of the emergency, with some alleging that no neighbors came forward to assist during the critical moments after Madhurima was discovered unresponsive. Furthermore, it has been reported that the local ambulance driver declined to take Madhurima to the hospital when called upon, citing various reasons that have yet to be clarified. The Kolkata Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Madhurima's death.
