B R Naidu has been appointed as the new chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, responsible for managing the Tirumala temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. In his initial address to the media, Naidu proposed implementing a Hindu-only workforce at Tirumala, emphasizing the importance of preserving the temple's sanctity. He noted that the inclusion of staff members from different religious backgrounds raises significant considerations and stated his intention to engage with the Andhra Pradesh government to address this matter.
Naidu outlined potential actions regarding non-Hindu employees, suggesting options such as transferring them to other government departments or offering them a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). He acknowledged the complexity of this issue and expressed his commitment to engaging in dialogue with relevant authorities to determine the most appropriate approach for maintaining the temple's religious integrity.
In expressing gratitude for his new role, Naidu thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the opportunity to lead the TTD Board. As an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, he views this appointment as a significant responsibility and a chance to contribute positively to the temple's operations and management.
B R Naidu has a background in media, operating several Telugu television channels, including a channel focused on Hindu devotional content. He has pledged to ensure that his administration is characterized by transparency and accountability. Naidu emphasized his commitment to executing his duties with honesty and integrity, aiming to enhance the management and operational efficiency of the TTD.
The Andhra Pradesh government has recently constituted a new TTD Board comprising 24 members, which includes prominent figures such as Suchitra Ella, co-founder of Bharat Biotech International Ltd. Naidu has indicated his plans to investigate alleged irregularities that occurred during the previous administration led by the YSR Congress party, signaling his intent to reinforce trust and effective governance within the TTD.
