Knee-deep water submerges Devkhal Bridge in Bankura, isolating villages and endangering lives

The Devkhal bridge near Shantashram in Bankura's Indas block has been submerged under knee-deep water following significant rainfall in the region. Over the past 24 hours, Bankura district recorded approximately 51.8 millimeters of rain, which has caused the Devkhal to swell considerably. Despite the absence of severe storms due to cyclone Dhanas, the rainfall has had a profound impact on local infrastructure, leading to a crisis for residents who depend on the bridge for daily activities.

Since Friday afternoon, water has surged over the bridge, effectively isolating several villages, including Karishunda, Belbandi, and Paharpur.
