The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is facing internal conflict following comments made by Krishna Das, the district president of the party's SC-OBC cell, during the Bijoya Sammelani event in Jalpaiguri. The event took place on Thursday evening at Maharaja Mela Maidan in Bandhamali, attended by district president Mahua Ghosh, spokesperson Sudip Raha, and Jalpaiguri Sadar MLA Dr. Pradip Kumar Barma.
During his speech, Das stated that North Bengal voters were labeled "traitors" after the Lok Sabha election results showed the TMC's success statewide but a contrasting performance in North Bengal. He remarked, “Are the people here traitors? Absolutely not. The traitors are some of our leaders.”
Das also criticized certain leaders for their inability to secure victories at the booth level, claiming they often encounter hostility from local constituents when visiting their homes. He noted that individuals who claim to hold significant positions within the party should be effective in their roles. These remarks come as the TMC prepares for upcoming by-elections in West Bengal. Das's comments have raised discussions about the current state of party leadership and voter engagement.
