In South 24 Parganas, amidst relentless rains and powerful winds, a critically ill young man from Gosaba Block Chandipur was miraculously rescued and transferred to Kolkata for emergency treatment.
The cyclone, predicted to make landfall between Thursday midnight and Friday morning, kept coastal residents in a state of anxiety as people were evacuated to safe shelters. However, around midnight, the young man in Gosaba became critically ill, unable to move, and his family members, trapped in the storm, were at a loss.
Battling darkness, fierce winds, and incessant rain, local authorities sprang into action, coordinating a complex rescue effort amid this volatile situation.
Through quick administrative measures, the patient was taken from the isolated Sundarbans region to Godkhali in Basanti. From there, an ambulance transported him to Kolkata for advanced care, despite hazardous weather conditions that could have impeded any immediate action.
