In yet another shocking incident of violence against women in Bengal, a young woman has accused a famous religious speaker on YouTube of rape. The victim alleged that the religious guru repeatedly raped her in the name of initiation and religious lessons.
The accused was arrested by the police this month and is currently in police custody for 7 days as per the order of the court. The victim, who was attracted to the religious words of the guru after watching his videos on YouTube, took initiation from him.
However, the cleric allegedly took advantage of her trust and raped her repeatedly. The young woman tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire and suffered burn injuries. She survived after undergoing plastic surgery.
The police have arrested the accused and are investigating the case. The victim alleged that the accused tried to silence her with money and threatened her when she refused to take it.
