Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
A youth Trinamool leader from Howrah, Zakham Abdul Qadir, was seriously injured in a shooting incident outside the Trinamool Congress office in Shibpur on Wednesday night. The leader, who holds a prominent position as the Youth Trinamool representative of Ward No. 31 in Howrah Municipality, was rushed to SSKM Hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when Qadir was standing in front of the Trinamool office. According to eyewitnesses, three miscreants arrived on a motorcycle and, without warning, opened fire on the Trinamool leader. It is believed that at least six rounds were fired, leaving Qadir collapsed on the street, gravely injured and bleeding profusely.
In the chaos that followed, the attackers fled the scene at high speed on their bikes. Witnesses reported that the assailants were well-prepared, with their faces covered by helmets, making it difficult for anyone to identify them. Residents, realizing the gravity of the situation, quickly rushed Qadir to the hospital, where he was admitted with multiple gunshot wounds.
The police have since taken charge of the investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding area has been collected, and investigators hope that it will help in identifying the perpetrators. Although no immediate leads have emerged, authorities are probing both personal enmity and political conspiracy as possible motives behind the attack. The sudden violence has left the local community shaken and has raised serious concerns about the security situation in Howrah, especially during nighttime.
