SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A gruesome discovery was made on Monday evening when police recovered the mutilated body of 24-year-old Bittu Kumar, a coaching teacher, in a pond in Begusarai, Bihar. Bittu had been missing since October 19, and the discovery of his body in a sack, with several parts missing, has left the local community in shock. His head, legs, and one hand were not found at the scene. They were later recovered from nearly 2 kilometers away from the scene.
Bittu Kumar, the son of Devendra Yadav and a resident of the Chakia police station area, had left his home on the morning of October 19, informing his family that he was heading to teach coaching classes. However, when he did not return home by evening, his family grew concerned. They called him multiple times throughout the day but received no response.
Bittu’s friend, Sumit, told the family that he had visited his house earlier in the day, borrowed ₹600, and mentioned that he was going to Patna. Despite efforts to trace him, Bittu remained missing for two days, until the tragic discovery of his body on October 21.
The mutilated body was found in a pond near Thermal Halt in Chakia. It was packed in a sack, and the rope used to tie the sack is commonly used to secure coal at the NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) plant, raising suspicions about the location of the crime. Bittu’s family identified the body despite the missing parts, and they suspect he was murdered in or near the village.
The police have launched a full investigation into the case. SP Sadar DSP 2 has formed a special team to examine the circumstances surrounding Bittu’s death. Authorities are looking into several angles, including any local disputes or potential connections to his coaching work and preparations for competitive exams.
