Bomb threats on 24 flights in 24 hours; emergency triggered on several airports

On Sunday, a total of 24 flights operated by Indian airlines, including IndiGo, Vistara, Air India, and Akasa Air, were targeted with bomb threats. The threats impacted both domestic and international routes, triggering emergency security protocols across various airports.

Among the affected airlines, IndiGo reported threats to several flights, including routes such as Jeddah to Mumbai, Kozhikode to Dammam, Delhi to Istanbul, Mumbai to Istanbul, Pune to Jodhpur, and Goa to Ahmedabad. Similarly, Vistara received threats for its flights on routes including Delhi to Frankfurt, Singapore to Mumbai, Bali to Delhi, and Mumbai to Singapore.

In immediate response to these threats, both IndiGo and Vistara promptly alerted the relevant security authorities and took swift action. IndiGo reassured passengers, stating, "The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our highest priority, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions as per the guidelines."

Akasa Air also confirmed receiving security alerts for several of its flights. A spokesperson for the airline stated, “Captains and crew members of respective flights followed the required emergency procedures and prescribed safety protocols in coordination with the local authorities.” Thorough inspections were conducted on all impacted aircraft, and they were cleared for further operations.

Despite the unsettling nature of these threats, over 90 bomb threats have been reported this week, with most of them confirmed to be hoaxes. Civil aviation authorities have taken the matter seriously, issuing strong warnings and vowing to take severe legal action against those responsible for the false alarms.
