A loud explosion near the CRPF school in Rohini, Delhi, on Sunday morning caused extensive damage to nearby shops and vehicles, though no casualties or injuries have been reported. The explosion occurred around 7:47 AM, shattering windows, displacing hoardings, and scattering debris across the area.
Security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Delhi Police, swiftly cordoned off the site. Forensic teams found a white powder-like substance near the school wall, and early reports suggest the blast may have involved a crude bomb. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause.
Visuals from the scene show smoke plumes rising and windows of parked vehicles shattered by the blast. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the sequence of events, while an FIR has been registered under the Explosives Act. Social media platforms, such as Telegram, are being monitored for potential terrorist activity, as these platforms are often used for communication before such attacks.
Authorities have placed Delhi on high alert, particularly ahead of the Diwali festival. Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi confirmed that forensic and crime teams are working with the Special Cell to investigate the blast. While no definitive conclusion has been reached, the area remains under heavy security with sniffer dogs aiding in the search for evidence.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi blamed the BJP-led central government for the capital’s deteriorating law and order, likening the situation to Mumbai’s underworld era in the 1990s. She accused the central government of neglecting its responsibilities while interfering with Delhi’s governance.
