Indian airlines are facing a major security threat after 70 bomb threats were reported, with 46 of them traced to a single anonymous account on X (formerly Twitter). The account, @adamlanza1111, posted the threats within two days, targeting both domestic and international flights. Major Indian carriers like Air India, IndiGo, Vistara, and international airlines such as American Airlines, Jet Blue, and Air New Zealand were among those affected.
The threatening messages were identical, warning: “There are bombs onboard five of your planes… No one will make out alive. Hurry up and evacuate the plane.” Some of these flights were airborne when the threats were posted, while others had already landed, causing widespread concern and triggering emergency security protocols.
In response, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) immediately convened a meeting with airline representatives in Delhi, led by BCAS chief Zulfiquar Hasan. During the meeting, airlines were instructed to strictly follow security guidelines to ensure passenger safety. Hasan later reassured the public that India's aviation safety protocols are robust, encouraging passengers to continue flying without fear. The account responsible for these threats has since been suspended by X, but the investigation continues as authorities work to identify the person behind the threats and determine their motives.
