Naxalbari Excise Department dismantles adulterated liquor operations in Kamala tea garden, seizes large quantities

The Naxalbari Excise Department executed a significant operation on Saturday to combat the widespread issue of adulterated liquor production in Kamala Tea Garden, located in Phansidewa. This initiative, undertaken with the assistance of the Ghoshpukur Outpost police, aimed at disrupting illegal alcohol manufacturing in various known hotspots, including Girija Line, Shaila Line, Bakul Line, Gandhi Mor, and Ghughuzhora.

The operation led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of adulterated liquor, which authorities reported posed severe health risks to consumers. The liquor was destroyed on-site to prevent it from re-entering the market. In addition, the department dismantled numerous pieces of equipment used in the production of this illicit alcohol, sending a strong message to those involved in such illegal activities.

According to officials, the problem of counterfeit liquor is not just a regulatory issue but also a serious public health concern. Adulterated liquor can contain harmful substances that pose significant risks, including poisoning and long-term health effects. The Naxalbari Excise Department emphasized that their actions are critical for protecting the community and ensuring the safety of consumers.

While no arrests were made during this particular operation, the department stated that investigations are ongoing, and they are gathering intelligence to track down those responsible for the illegal production and distribution of counterfeit liquor. Authorities are committed to increasing patrols and surveillance in the region to deter further illegal activities.

This operation is part of a larger statewide initiative to combat the illegal liquor trade, which has been a persistent issue in many regions of West Bengal. Officials have noted that such operations will continue in the coming days, reinforcing the government's commitment to uphold the law and ensure public safety. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to illegal liquor production to the authorities.
