Potato traders to go on strike if Bengal doesn’t allow selling to other states
In Bengal's Gajol, a tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when 23-year-old Ranjan Biswas was struck and killed by a train during his morning walk. A resident of Akanda village, Ranjan was following his daily routine around 7:30 AM when the accident occurred.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ranjan was wearing headphones at the time, likely preventing him from hearing the express train traveling from Sealdah to Balurghat. The train collided with him unexpectedly as he walked along the tracks, resulting in a fatal impact. Despite the conductor's attempts to signal with the horn, the sound went unnoticed due to Ranjan's headphones. Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion, but unfortunately, Ranjan was declared dead on the spot.
His friends and family described him as a vibrant young man involved in various local activities. The railway police were immediately alerted and arrived promptly to secure the area. They conducted a preliminary investigation and recovered Ranjan's body, which was later sent to Balurghat District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have now launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, focusing on whether appropriate signage and safety measures were in place to warn pedestrians of the dangers.
