Akasa Air flight QP1335, en route from Delhi to Bengaluru, has declared an emergency after a bomb threat was reported onboard. The flight, carrying 184 passengers, is currently returning to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi as a precautionary measure. The emergency was declared mid-flight, prompting immediate action by the airline's emergency response teams.
Akasa Air, in a statement, confirmed that all necessary protocols have been activated, and the pilot was advised to divert the flight to Delhi. "Our emergency response teams are closely monitoring the situation, and as a precaution, the pilot has been directed to return to Delhi. Passenger safety is our utmost priority, and we are taking every step to ensure their security and comfort," the airline said.
The Captain of the aircraft is reportedly following all required emergency procedures and is coordinating with local authorities. The airline added that it is in constant communication with security agencies and the airport authorities to ensure the situation is handled with care and precision.
The flight, which was bound for Bengaluru, was diverted shortly after the threat was reported, and it is expected to land at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport shortly. Emergency response units, including security teams, bomb disposal squads, and medical assistance, have been alerted and are on standby to address the situation upon landing.
