Ghaziabad Police arrested two suspects in separate encounters on Monday night—one for the rape of a minor and the other for murder. Both suspects were injured in police gunfire and are receiving treatment.
The first incident involved Saddam, who allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl in Nandgram. According to ACP Poonam Mishra, the girl’s father, a chaat vendor, reported that Saddam lured the child from a local fair by offering her ice cream, then took her to the banks of the Hindon River and raped her. After an intensive search, police tracked Saddam and arrested him following a shootout, during which he was injured. A country-made pistol was recovered from him.
The second encounter took place in the Kavi Nagar area. Manish alias Mangal was arrested for his involvement in the murder of Rahul Singh. ACP Abhishek Srivastava stated that Rahul was beaten to death on October 10 following a monetary dispute. Manish and his accomplice Vicky, who remains at large, were spotted during a police vehicle inspection. When the duo tried to escape, a chase ensued, leading to an exchange of gunfire, during which Manish was shot and arrested. Vicky managed to flee, and the police are continuing the search for him. A pistol and motorcycle were recovered from Manish.
Both cases are currently under investigation, with efforts focused on capturing the fugitive and gathering further evidence.
