Elephant loses control and damages cars, injures 1 at Dussehra fair in Bihar's Saran

An enraged elephant created chaos at a Dussehra fair in Saran district, Bihar, on Saturday, damaging multiple cars and injuring one person during a two-hour rampage. The incident unfolded in the bustling market area, where the elephant, carrying three individuals on its back, lost control and began to charge through the streets.

Eyewitness videos of the event, widely circulated on social media, showed the massive animal trampling vehicles and instilling fear among onlookers. As it rampaged through the market, local residents watched in shock, some recording the incident while others attempted to flee from the charging elephant. The situation escalated quickly, with reports of significant property damage as the elephant collided with several parked cars.

Despite the prompt arrival of police officials who responded to the reports, they were unable to control the agitated elephant. Authorities called in a mahout, who specializes in handling elephants, to assist in calming the creature. The mahout managed to guide the elephant to a secluded garden area, where he successfully restrained it by tying it to a tree.

Forest department officials subsequently arrived at the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the elephant and the public. They are now investigating the cause of the elephant’s sudden aggression, as well as exploring measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
