Man opens fire on couple over parking dispute in Delhi, woman injured

An alarming incident occurred on Friday evening in Gurugram's Sector 9, where an unidentified man opened fire on a young couple following a dispute over parking. The couple was en route to the gym when they parked their two-wheeler in the Housing Board area, prompting a local resident to confront them about their choice of parking.

During the confrontation, the assailant accused the couple of being "thieves." A heated argument escalated, and without warning, he pulled out a gun and fired several shots at them. Fortunately, the bullets missed their intended targets, but one grazed the woman’s arm, causing her injury.

After the shooting, the couple quickly reported the incident to the Sector 9 police station. By the time police arrived, the shooter had fled the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the weapon used was a country-made pistol, raising concerns about the accessibility of such firearms in the area.

Witness accounts reveal that the confrontation escalated when the assailant initially attempted to attack the couple with sticks. The male victim defended himself with a brick after being pushed by both the man and a woman who was with him. He stated that he had never seen the assailant before. A bullet shell was recovered at the scene, and police are actively working to identify the suspect and ascertain whether he has a criminal background.
