Indian railways launch 400+ special trains for festive season travel, operating nearly 6,000 trips

As the festive season begins with Navratri, Indian Railways has taken significant steps to accommodate the increasing number of travelers across the country. In response to the heightened demand during this period, the Railways has announced the launch of over 400 special trains. These trains will operate from the start of Navratri through Chhath Puja, ensuring that passengers have ample options to reach their destinations for family celebrations and cultural events.

The special trains are set to operate a remarkable total of 5,975 trips this season, a substantial increase from the 4,429 trips offered in 2023. This 1,546-trip rise reflects Indian Railways' commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and addressing the needs of travelers during this busy time. Moreover, the ministry has assured that if passenger demand continues to surge, they are ready to increase the number of trips even further, ensuring that every traveler has access to transportation when needed.

The Central Railway is contributing significantly to this initiative by running 278 special trains throughout the festive season. These trains will facilitate travel to and from ancestral cities and villages, making it easier for families to reunite during the festivities. Travelers can access detailed information regarding routes, departure and arrival times, and halts at intermediate stations through the Indian Railways inquiry website, allowing for efficient journey planning.

In addition to the special trains, the Northern Railway has announced the operation of 138 special trains, which will run until November 11, completing a total of 2,694 trips. This increase in special trips is expected to minimize travel difficulties for those who plan their journeys in advance, providing a smoother experience. Furthermore, to accommodate last-minute travelers, Indian Railways will add extra general class coaches to 108 existing trains, ensuring that everyone has a chance to secure a seat during this festive rush.
