Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
Pakistan Women delivered an impressive all-round performance to secure a 31-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second ICC Women's T20 World Cup match on Thursday in Sharjah. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led from the front, contributing with the bat and the ball, helping her side overcome the Asian Cup Champions.
After opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a modest total of 116, with Sana top-scoring at 30 from 20 balls. Sri Lanka's bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings, with Chamari Athapaththu nearly bagging a hat-trick and finishing with impressive figures of 3/18.
Sugandika Kumari (3/19) and Udeshika Prabodhani (3/20) also added crucial wickets. However, Pakistan’s batting depth allowed them to reach a competitive total.
In response, Sri Lanka's chase faltered early when Fatima Sana removed opener Athapaththu, putting Pakistan in control. Despite resistance from Vishmi Gunaratne (20) and Nilakshika Silva (22), Sri Lanka struggled to maintain momentum, eventually finishing at 85/9. Sadia Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking 3/17 as Sri Lanka fell 31 runs short of the target.
