Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
A strong gust of wind on Wednesday morning caused a major disruption on EM Bypass near Bengal Chemical when large advertising hoardings attached to the road divider fell, creating a temporary traffic jam.
The incident occurred amidst heavy rain and stormy weather, which contributed to the collapse of iron guard railings and signal posts, stretching across approximately 800 meters in front of Bengal Chemical.
Fortunately, the timing of the incident meant that there were no major injuries or serious damage, though the fallen advertisements and railings obstructed vehicles passing through the area. Local authorities acted swiftly to clear the hoardings, which helped to alleviate the traffic jam that had developed in the area.
By afternoon, the damaged railings had been removed, and workers began the process of reinstalling dividers and signal posts. This swift response helped restore traffic flow, minimizing further disruption for commuters on the busy EM Bypass.
