Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proudly announced that West Bengal has emerged as the top state in India for women-owned micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) according to the MSME Annual Report 2023-24.
Released by the Ministry of MSME, the report shows that West Bengal holds the highest share of female-owned enterprises, contributing 23.42% of all such businesses across the country.
Mamata Banerjee highlighted that this achievement reflects the state's progressive efforts to empower women entrepreneurs, showcasing their vital role in West Bengal’s economic landscape. She made this announcement on the eve of the Devi Paksha, symbolically connecting it to women's strength and success.
The Chief Minister expressed pride in the state's development in this area and reaffirmed her government's commitment to fostering an environment where women entrepreneurs can thrive.
