Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
A fire broke out in the Ophthalmology Department of Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday, causing panic among patients and their families. The incident occurred in the outpatient department (OPD) on the third floor, with thick white smoke quickly filling the area.
Two fire engines rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control after some time. Fortunately, no major damage was reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but hospital sources suspect it may have been triggered by an electronic device, possibly due to a short circuit. The incident occurred while the strike of junior doctors continued, adding to the chaos at the hospital.
Families of patients were left in panic, but the timely response of the fire department prevented the situation from escalating further.
