Detectives of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 12 locations across West Bengal on Tuesday, targeting individuals allegedly linked to Maoist activities. The raids, carried out in areas including Netaji Nagar in Kolkata, Panihati, Barrackpore, Sodepur, and Asansol, aim to uncover networks supporting Maoist operations in the eastern region of India.
According to official sources, the investigation centers around two women suspected of siphoning funds intended to strengthen Maoist influence. These funds, allegedly sent for expanding Maoist networks, were misused for personal gain and other covert activities.
The NIA is now working to identify the full extent of their involvement and any associates aiding them. The raids, which began early Tuesday morning, have led to the recovery of several documents that may shed light on the Maoist group's financial operations in the region.
These documents are expected to provide crucial insights into how funds were routed and who else might be involved.
