Violence erupts in Kolkata as Hindu Jagran Manch protest clashes with police; Officer injured
The police in Assam's Cachar district arrested two individuals with a large consignment of Yaba tablets. Acting on intelligence information, the operation took place in the Katigora area, where the accused were apprehended late Saturday night.
The arrested suspects, identified as Mohammad Sahim Uddin Khan and Mohammad Didarul Islam, were caught in possession of 49 packets containing 9,800 Yaba tablets. The seizure, made during a search in the Noonnagar area on National Highway-06, has an estimated black market value of around ₹3 crore.
Authorities also seized the auto rickshaw used in the smuggling operation. The Cachar District Superintendent of Police emphasized that the operation was the result of precise intelligence work, targeting the illegal drug trade in the region. Further legal actions are currently underway against the accused. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the drug menace in Assam.
