Union Cabinet approves 'One Nation, One Election' Bill: Reports
Junior doctors at Sagar Dutta Medical College in Kamarhati went on strike after being assaulted by the family of a 30-year-old woman who died during treatment on Friday night. The woman had been admitted with severe respiratory issues, and despite the doctors’ efforts, she passed away, prompting her relatives to attack the medical staff.
Around 20 individuals stormed the hospital, injuring six healthcare workers, including interns and nurses. The attack occurred despite the presence of a recently established police outpost at the hospital, though the police were unable to respond in time to prevent the assault.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, but junior doctors argue that the response is insufficient. They demand immediate implementation of stronger security measures within the hospital to ensure their safety. The doctors have stated they will continue their strike until adequate security protocols are in place, emphasizing that such incidents are unacceptable in a professional medical environment.
