Thailand announces e-visa for Indians from Jan 1, 60-day exemption to continue
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in the Abhaya Rape and Murder case, revealing alarming details that have led to the extension of custody for key suspects Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal until September 30.
The investigation has uncovered serious allegations against the Tala police station, including tampering with evidence and creating false records. This shocking development has intensified scrutiny of the police's role in the case. The CBI's findings have prompted complaints against the police, particularly targeting the former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Tala police station, who has already been arrested.
The agency's investigation has now extended to new complaints that suggest deeper corruption and malpractice within the police force. The claims include altering evidence and fabricating documents, which have raised significant concerns about the integrity of the initial investigation into the tragic case.
During a recent court appearance, Abhijit Mondal sought bail; however, the CBI strongly opposed this request. Their arguments included the serious allegations of record falsification at the Tala police station. CBI documents presented in court indicated that false records were either created or altered, further complicating the case and suggesting a deliberate attempt to mislead the investigation.
