SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Kolkata Police has issued a traffic advisory to manage the flow of vehicles ahead of Durga Puja celebrations. The advisory will be in effect from 2:00 pm on 1st October until 4:00 am on 9th October. These regulations have been put in place to ensure the smooth transportation of Durga Puja idols and minimize traffic congestion across the city.
Diversion for Idol Transport Vehicles:
All vehicles heading to lift Durga Puja idols will enter the Kumartuli complex via Rabindra Sarani through Jatindra Mohan Avenue, Raja Naba Krishna Street, and Aurobindo Sarani. They will exit through Madan Mohan Tala, Baghbazar Street, and Strand Bank Road.
Goods Vehicles Diversion:
Goods vehicles, except those involved in idol transportation, will be diverted to move along Strand Road, Nimtala Ghat Street, B. K. Pal Avenue, Jatindra Mohan Avenue, and Girish Avenue for both upward and downward journeys, instead of using Rabindra Sarani.
No Parking on Strand Bank Road:
Parking will be prohibited on Strand Bank Road between Sovabazar Street and D.C. Banerjee Road to ensure the smooth dispersal of vehicles carrying idols.
Designated Parking for Idol Transport Vehicles:
Vehicles transporting idols can park on the western side of Rabindra Sarani between Sovabazar Street and Baghbazar Street.
Restrictions on Kalighat Bridge:
Vehicles transporting idols will be restricted from using Kalighat Bridge and Zeerut. Only idol transport vehicles will be allowed on Kalighat Road from south to north at the Hazra Road and Kalighat Road intersection.
Exemptions for Idol Transport Vehicles:
Vehicles carrying idols will be allowed to move freely across the city throughout the advisory's duration.
Additional Notifications:
These special traffic regulations will be in addition to existing restrictions, provided they do not conflict with the rules for idol transport during this period.
Kolkata Police has urged citizens to cooperate and follow these guidelines for a smooth and safe celebration.
