Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
In Araria district, Bihar, a Sub-Inspector named Nusrat Parveen was critically injured after being struck in the face by an arrow during a police intervention in a land dispute. The altercation unfolded early on Monday morning when a police team arrived in Pokhariya village, part of the Jokihat block, to mediate a land-related conflict involving about 200 individuals attempting to illegally occupy land owned by Bhup Narayan Yadav.
The police had been alerted to the situation when the mob began erecting bamboo structures on the disputed land, escalating tensions and creating a law and order crisis. According to a statement from the Araria Police, the attack took place around 3:00 AM. When the officers tried to restore order, the violent crowd retaliated, resulting in Parveen's injury.
Immediately after the incident, the injured officer was rushed to Max Hospital in Purnia, where she remains in critical condition. The police have since increased their presence in the area, deploying additional law enforcement and magistrate personnel to ensure stability and safety.
Authorities are taking the situation seriously, with investigations underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. A case has been filed at the Mahalgaon police station under Section 112, emphasizing the severity of the incident and the need for accountability.
