SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A four-hour Shanti Havan Panchagavya Prokshana ritual is underway at Tirumala temple, aimed at addressing the alleged desecrations during the YSRCP regime. Starting at 6 am and concluding at 10 am, the ritual seeks to purify the temple and restore the sanctity of the laddu prasadams, which have been a source of controversy due to claims of animal fats being used in their preparation.
TTD executive officer J Shyamala Rao emphasized that the ritual is essential for the well-being of devotees and to eliminate any negative impacts from past practices. The ceremony is part of a broader initiative led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the allegations surrounding the use of adulterated ingredients.
In light of the controversy, the Mankameshwar Temple in Lucknow has also responded by banning market-bought offerings. Devotees are now required to bring only homemade offerings or dry fruits for rituals, reflecting a growing concern for purity in religious practices across temples in India.
The SIT, comprising officers of the rank of Inspector General and above, will explore the misuse of power and submit a comprehensive report to the government. Naidu assured the public that stringent measures will be taken to prevent any future incidents, emphasizing that the sentiments of the people must be respected and safeguarded.
