SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced plans for a comprehensive cleansing drive across all state temples amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged use of animal fat in Tirupati laddoos. Speaking to the media at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) central office on Saturday, Naidu emphasized the government's commitment to upholding religious sentiments and ensuring that sacred practices are maintained.
Naidu highlighted that discussions are actively taking place regarding the necessary steps and their implementation concerning the issue at Tirumala. He reassured the public that decisions will be made in consultation with respected religious leaders, including Jeer Swamy and Kanchi Swamy, to address the concerns raised about the laddoos. The Chief Minister alleged that the YSRCP not only played a role in the controversy but also attempted to divert public attention for political advantage. "How is it possible to get a kg of cow ghee at Rs 320?" Naidu questioned, pointing to pricing disparities as a sign of deeper issues.
He underscored the importance of careful decision-making regarding the world-famous sacred pilgrimage site of Tirumala, which attracts millions of devotees each year. The controversy has sparked significant debate, primarily centered on the quality of the ghee used in the prasadam, which is believed to be an essential part of the spiritual experience.
Lab reports have added fuel to the fire, with allegations that fish oil and beef tallow were found in the ghee supplied during the previous YSR Congress Party regime. This revelation has heightened concerns among devotees, prompting Naidu to take swift action to reassure the public about the sanctity of the prasadam offered at Tirupati.
