In Nepanagar, Madhya Pradesh, an attempt was made to blow up a military special train on September 18. Authorities revealed that ten detonators were strategically placed on the railway tracks, intended to derail the train traveling from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka.
In the Sagfata area, an unknown group of miscreants orchestrated this plot, but their efforts were thwarted when the train driver noticed an unusual explosion caused by the detonators. Acting swiftly, the driver stopped the train and informed the station master, preventing a potential disaster.
Upon receiving the alert, officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and railway authorities promptly inspected the incident site. Due to the involvement of military personnel, the case is being treated with utmost confidentiality.
The detonators used were not RDX-based but fog detonators, typically employed to warn train drivers in foggy conditions. These were expired railway detonators, and the railway authorities confirmed they had no knowledge of their placement. The miscreants’ ability to acquire and position ten of these detonators raises serious concerns about security protocols.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:48 PM near the Sagphata railway station. Following the investigation, officials from the police department's special branch and railway officials conducted a thorough examination of the area. As of late Saturday evening, intelligence agencies, including NIA and ATS, extended their investigation to Khandwa.
