Flood-hit residents of Ghatal in West Medinipur, West Bengal, are in dire straits as they cry out for food and necessities. In a heart-wrenching scene, NDRF workers arrived by boat to distribute relief food and tarpaulins. The flood victims, including the elderly, women, and men, stretched out their hands in desperation, hoping to secure a small portion of food or a piece of tarpaulin for shelter.
Overwhelmed by hunger and the lack of food for days, the arrival of relief felt like a lifeline for these residents, many of whom had lost everything to the floodwaters.
Every year, the people of Ghatal face the same plight, relying on relief to survive, highlighting their ongoing vulnerability to natural disasters and the severe impact on their livelihoods.
