In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old youth named Sudip Naskar fell from the third floor of an under-construction building during a party in the Kasba area of Kolkata. The fall occurred during an alcohol-fueled altercation among a group of local boys who had gathered for a Vishwakarma Puja celebration.
The incident took place at around 4:45 PM at a construction site located at 163/C Swinhoe Lane, under the jurisdiction of the Kasba Police Station. According to local sources, the group of 5-6 boys had assembled on the third floor of the four-story building for a celebratory gathering related to Vishwakarma Puja. During the party, a heated argument broke out between the boys, which soon escalated into a physical tussle.
Sudip Naskar, a resident of 164 Swinhoe Lane, was reportedly caught up in the altercation and, in the scuffle, fell from the third floor to the ground below. He sustained grievous injuries from the fall and was immediately rushed to Dr. S S Chatterjee Heart Centre in Karaya, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical.
The Kasba Police quickly responded to the incident and launched an investigation. One of the boys involved in the altercation, Vishal Singh, 25, has been detained by the police for questioning regarding his involvement in the incident.
While the police are probing the circumstances leading to the accident, initial reports suggest that the altercation during the party may have been a key factor in the tragedy. The gathering, which was meant to be a festive celebration of Vishwakarma Puja, turned into a scene of chaos after the argument spiraled out of control.
