A tragic incident unfolded in Newtown’s Baliguri area after the body of a two-year-old girl was found floating in a pond on Tuesday morning. The girl, daughter of Samsur Mandal, a resident from Bihar living in the area, was reported missing earlier that day.
According to Samsur, everything seemed normal when he went to bed with his family on Monday night. However, when he awoke in the morning, he noticed both his mobile phone and his daughter were missing. After a frantic search, local residents discovered the girl’s body in a nearby pond around 8:00 a.m.
The police from Technocity police station were alerted and rushed to the scene. Investigations are underway, with CCTV footage from the surrounding area being reviewed to determine how the child ended up in the pond.
Neighbors have raised suspicions about a man who used to live in the same rental house as the family. Allegedly, this man had ongoing issues with the Mandal family and was often intoxicated. Authorities are actively searching for him, suspecting his potential involvement in the tragic death of the child.
