The cadre of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) protested on Friday in Lalbazaar, Kolkata, near the police headquarters to demand justice in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case and the removal of the Commissioner of Police.
The protesters were stopped by huge police barricading at Phears lane following which the cadre stage dharna. The 30-hour long protest is witnessing scores of Left Wing leaders and activists raising slogans against the Police Commissioner and State Government.
In a post in X, the CPI(M) state committee handle mentioned the ‘Lalbazar Abhiyan’ to demand the punishment of those guilty of the rape and murder of the trainee doctor and demanding the removal of the Commissioner. “Do not give up the fight! Lalbazar Abhiyan of Left Front to demand speedy punishment of those guilty of rape and murder of a young doctor by RG, removal of police commissioner,” the post read.
