The Supreme Court will announce its judgment on Friday regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case.
A bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan had reserved their decision on September 5. Kejriwal, also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, appealed against the August 5 Delhi High Court ruling that upheld his arrest and denied his bail plea, advising him to approach the trial court first.
During the last hearing, the bench indicated that its ruling would aim to avoid undermining the lower judiciary while contributing to the development of criminal law.
