Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
Within 24 hours of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's directive to maintain silence, Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir issued a stern warning to the protesting doctors.
Speaking openly, Kabir cautioned that if doctors prioritize their own interests over public service, citizens then political representatives would have to take action. He emphasized that doctors receive government allowances and it is their duty to serve the people, especially in times of crisis.
Referring to a recent incident of rape and murder, Kabir acknowledged the need for justice but argued that disrupting medical services daily is not the solution. The MLA expressed frustration, stating that while people are dying, doctors are still being shielded from accountability. Kabir hinted at the possibility of protests against the doctors, asserting that the Constitution grants the right to challenge them if public welfare is being ignored.
Kabir’s remarks come amid rising tensions between the government and junior doctors, who have been on strike over various demands.
