SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Junior doctors have issued new conditions for their upcoming meeting with the Chief Secretary, demanding a change from previously agreed terms. Despite a letter from the Chief Secretary allowing 12 to 15 doctors to attend, the junior doctors have insisted that their delegation be increased to 30 members. They have also stipulated that the entire meeting be live-streamed. Additionally, they are calling for the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and for the discussion to include their five-point demands, which were detailed in an email to Navanna.
Earlier today, the junior doctors informed Nabanna about their intention to send a delegation, but received a response only in the afternoon, which confirmed that a meeting could take place with the restricted number of attendees. The junior doctors have countered this response, stating that they will only agree to the meeting if their revised conditions are met.
In a related development, the Chief Minister is currently engaged in the Navanna Sabha, and the BGBS meeting began at 4:30 p.m. Junior doctors have called for a health building campaign on Tuesday related to the Tilottama case, with their demands still pending. The tension between the protesting junior doctors and the authorities continues to escalate, and the outcome of the situation remains uncertain.
Junior doctors have also communicated their stance to journalists, emphasizing that any meeting will only be productive if all their conditions are met. Kinjal Nanda, a representative, stated, “We will not reach any decision at the meeting unless our demands are addressed. After the meeting, we will review our position and decide on further actions regarding our strike and sit-in protests.”
