A case has been registered at the Watganj Police Station based on a complaint filed by the father of a 23-year-old woman against Sumit Agarwal Harlalka of Howrah.
The accused was arrested last night for allegedly sexually assaulting the victim and threatening her with dire consequences.
According to the FIR, the accused reportedly assaulted the woman by touching her private parts and later, on July 26, around 1 pm, allegedly committed further sexual assault by forcibly fingering her at his shop.
The victim was taken to SSKM Hospital for a primary medical examination following the incident. The case has been registered under Sections 64(2)(k), 74, and 351 of the BNS, and investigations are underway.
