Protests against the Government and Police are not yet cold as fresh Lalbazar Abhiyan was carried out by the CPI(M) on Monday. Md. Salim along with several senior Left leaders was present during the Lalbazar Challo Campaign. The CPI(M) is demanding resignation of the Kolkata's Commissioner of Police Vineet Goyal.
Accusing the police of working at the behest of the ruling Trinamool and failing to safeguard the evidence in the RG Kar rape and murder case, the left cadre in large numbers start their rally from Lenin Statue. This led to a big traffic jam.
When stopped from moving forward by Kolkata police, the protesters tried to climb the barricades. This has led to a complete blockage of movement in Bentick Street.
The rally comes on the day when CM Mamata Banerjee made a startling claim that CP Vineet Goyal had offered to resign a week ago over the RG Kar turmoil. She even mentioned that if he is removed before Durga Puja then who will handle the law and order of the city.
