BJP gherao BDO offices across Bengal, scuffle with police in several districts

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a statewide dharna on Wednesday, demanding justice for the R.G. Kar Medical College case. Protests were held across various districts, with demonstrations taking place in front of block development offices (BDOs) under the leadership of local BJP leaders.

In Singur, BJP workers gathered near the BDO office, chanting slogans like "We want justice" and "Justice for RG Kar." Madhusudan Das, BJP coordinator for the Singur Assembly, demanded punishment for the real culprits in the R.G. Kar case and called for immediate action against the rising violence against women in the state. He also called for the resignation of the state's Chief Minister.

Significant protests were also held in East Midnapore, where BJP workers marched from Panskura market to the BDO office, leading to a tense situation as police barricaded the area. Protesters burned tyres on the roads, and clashes with police ensued outside the BDO office.

In Bankura, Onda BJP MLA Amar Nath Shakha led a protest that resulted in clashes with police after protesters attempted to break through barricades outside the Onda block office. A similar scene unfolded in Alipurduar, where BJP leaders and workers staged a sit-in at the Madarihat BDO office, with MP Manoj Tigga participating in the protest.
