Hindu group calls for Ram Mandir in every constituency over Humayun Kabir's Babri remark
On Monday, agitating junior doctors embarked on a protest march towards Lalbazar, Kolkata's police headquarters, but were met with barricades blocking their path. In response, the doctors issued a 10-minute ultimatum, demanding that either they all be allowed entry or that Police Commissioner Vinit Goyal come out to address them.
One of the protesting female doctors voiced her frustration, questioning the need for barricades during their peaceful march. "Let us in, or the CP should come and speak within 10 minutes," she stated firmly. The doctors expressed their determination to submit their deputation directly to the police authorities.
Despite their persistence, the police remained resolute, refusing to allow the doctors into Lalbazar. A second protesting doctor declared, "We will not leave until the CP comes to accept our deputation, or we will sit here until resignation." The situation remained tense as the doctors insisted on presenting their demands.
DC Central Indira Mukherjee commented on the standoff, saying, "There is no issue if their delegation wishes to meet with the CP or other officials. We were informed that 20 people would come, but it seems their plans have changed. We will monitor their next steps."
