On Monday, a landslide struck the new Mata Vaishno Devi route near Panchi in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, leading to the death of one pilgrim and injuring two others. The landslide also caused significant damage to an overhead iron structure.

In response to the incident, authorities have temporarily suspended movement on the affected route and are working to clear the area. Pilgrims have been advised to exercise caution during their journey, considering the current conditions.
The Vaishno Devi Temple, located in the Trikuta Hills, is one of the most visited religious sites in India. In 2023, the temple saw a record number of 9.35 million visitors, the highest in the past decade.
