A 13-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a laboratory technician at a hospital in Howrah, West Bengal on Saturday, police said. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the girl, receiving treatment for pneumonia at the hospital, was taken for a CT scan.
According to the teen’s family, she emerged from the department crying and sought help from another patient's relative. The relative, who filmed what transpired after the alleged assault, chased down the accused, a contractual employee at the hospital.
In the video, the girl described the alleged assault. The girl's mother, waiting outside, rushed to her daughter's side after hearing her cries and alerted the police. News of the incident spread quickly, sparking outrage among locals.
The victim's family and relatives gathered at the hospital to protest and allegedly attempted to assault the accused. Police arrived at the scene and intervened to rescue the accused, Aman Raj, from the mob. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by the girl's family.
