Starting September 1, the East-West Metro service will be available on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade route even on Sundays. The extended service aims to cater to the growing demand for convenient weekend transportation. Operating from 2:15 PM to 9:45 PM, a total of 62 trains will run up and down the route, with trains arriving every 15 minutes.
This change is expected to ease the commute for Sunday travelers, providing them with more flexibility and reducing the reliance on other forms of transportation. The East-West Metro, which has already become a vital part of Kolkata's public transport system, continues to expand its services to meet the needs of the city's residents.
The extension of Sunday services is part of ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation in the city and provide consistent service across the week. Passengers have welcomed the move, as it aligns with the increasing demand for reliable and frequent metro services, especially during weekends when people are more likely to engage in recreational and social activities.
