Train services across several regions in West Bengal, including Hooghly, Katwa, Sealdah South Branch, Murshidabad, and Krishnanagar, were severely disrupted today. The chaos began early in the morning when BJP supporters initiated a rail blockade at Hooghly station as part of their bandh, halting local trains on multiple lines.
Bandel-Howrah local trains were also obstructed as BJP workers lay down on the tracks, bringing traffic to a standstill. Train services were also disrupted between Bangaon-Sealdah which is now being reinstated.
In Barrackpore, BJP workers continued the disruption, with leader Kaustab Bagchi joining the protest by walking along the railway tracks. The situation has escalated as Trinamool Congress (TMC) members, opposing the bandh, took to the roads in demonstrations.
Reports from North 24 Parganas indicate that TMC workers have actively chased away BJP supporters, further intensifying the political clash.
