Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A man was tied with a rope and chilli powder was stuffed into his private part in Bihar’s Araria. The video of the incident, now going viral, shows the man with his hands tied behind his back. His pants are unbuckled and gathered at the knees, while the accused forced him to bend down.
The man in the video was captured by a group of men, who accused him of stealing. One person, identified as Mohammad Sifat, was arrested after a video showing the entire incident went viral. One of the accused is seen pouring chilli powder on his back and stuffing it in his rectum using a pencil.
After this, the accused is seen pulling up the man’s pants and buttoning them. The group of men then thoroughly frisked the man. The video of the incident, which was recorded by several men present during the incident, was shared on social media. The police were prompted into action after the video went viral.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Nitish Kumar government over the incident. Taking a jibe at the NDA government, Tejashwi Yadav said the incident showed "Taliban Raj" in Bihar. "Me and my party talk about the rights and share of Dalits, backward and minorities, hence the casteists always see our rule as Jungle Raj," Tejashwi Yadav tweeted.
Police said that the incident took place in Araria's Islamnagar. One accused has been arrested while efforts are underway to identify and arrest others involved in the incident, police said.
